Sumber Solusi Indonesia | Sourcing Solutions Indonesia (SSI) has sourced molasses from every corner of Indonesia and we have developed strong partnerships with sugar mills in Indonesia.
We are working closely with our largest customer Winton Stock Feed New Zealand, who have developed a unique containerised shipping method to deliver molasses from Indonesia.
Issues with existing supply chains
Traditional molasses supply chains require large and expensive storage infrastructure at source, large shipment volumes between 8 to 40,000 tonnes for ocean freight efficiency, expensive specialised molasses capable bulk liquid ships and large storage capacity at the country destination. Large shipment volumes only really work for high volumes through main port centres, making the system unrealistic for sourcing a steady supply of affordable bulk molasses for use in smaller out ports and rural regions.
Our flexible container supply chain offers many benefits both for molasses importers and end users:
1. Flexibility to source smaller volumes from smaller supply ports (500 to 5,000 tonnes).
2. Flexibility to move smaller volumes to out ports in Japan that are closer to the end user.
3. Elimination or a reduction in third parties in the supply chain – source from Winton Stock Feed direct if desired.
4. A much lower delivered cane molasses cost.

How does a container supply chain work?
The key principle of the container molasses supply chain is to utilise regular 20-foot regular shipping containers, special container bladders and internal support in the containers to meet the “no leakage” container shipping requirement. The container supply chain requires loading infrastructure at source. That infrastructure is already well established in our supply regions. At the destination, simple container devanning infrastructure and limited storage capacity is required. The result – a lower cost and more flexible supply chain to dramatically reduce the shipping, storage and in-country transportation cost of molasses for both importers and end users.
